You Go UVA Psychiatry! :) Restraint Chair Banned From UVA’s Psych. Units Before It Was Ever Brought In

Way to go UVA psychiatry!  A reliable source has informed me that UVA, which runs both inpatient psychiatric units in Charlottesville, one at UVA and one at Martha Jefferson, has agreed not to purchase the controversial and dangerous restraint chairs discussed on this blog and still in use at Western State Hospital and other state facilities in Virginia.  Good news of pro-active prevention of traumatizing methods is so rare in our mental health system that I just had to give UVA a shout out :) .  Way to go, keep it up :) .

Great news! I am shocked and pleased to hear it. Looks like SOME administrators in VA are learning.
